Buzz: Shopping
New and Notable
Whether you’re a shopper, diner or drinker, there are plenty of respites popping up all over Southern California.
For those seeking out the renowned San Clemente-based company Stance, the brand opened its first SoCal brick-and-mortar store at Irvine Spectrum Center. Previously only available for purchase at designated retailers, Stance socks are revitalized versions of an oft-overlooked accessory that have been made into a fashion statement. This 1,800-square-foot space is designed to appear as an extension of the company headquarters and also includes items from its first T-shirt collection as well as intimates. Also take advantage of the Stance Self-Checkout, which allows customers to pay for their items directly from their smartphones without even needing to download an app.
That being said, a smartphone app can be a handy tool, as well. The Irvine Co. recently released one called Retail Therapy, which gives users hundreds of discounts and deals at various shopping centers like Irvine Spectrum Center or Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Peruse offers from more than 45 retail shops, restaurants and other businesses, including Kendra Scott, Ra Yoga, Skin Laundry and California Pizza Kitchen. Make a list of all your favorite deals and start saving; available for iPhone and Android.
When hunger strikes, head to Lido Marina Village in Newport Beach and dine at one of two new eateries located in the harborside shopping village: Circle Hook Fish Co. and Malibu Farm. Both restaurants come from famous backgrounds, with Circle Hook being presented by the same company behind Bear Flag Fish Co. and Malibu Farm coming from the dining establishments of the same name that are located on the Malibu Pier. Circle Hook offers diners fresh seafood dishes, while Malibu Farm operates using a farm-to-table concept to create its unique culinary masterpieces that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Also check out the home goods store adjacent to Malibu Farm, which has a curated collection of decor, apparel and books, such as the official “Malibu Farm Cookbook.”
For a before- or after-meal drink, pop in to Surf City Still Works in Huntington Beach, the city’s first distillery, which makes a variety of hand-crafted spirits with names that reflect the seaside locale, including Shorebreak vodka, California gin and Pierside bourbon. The space also includes a tasting room where guests can order a flight of liquor as well as creative cocktails, all of which are sure to quench your thirst.
